While in my observation, I have noticed that there is this kid who seems more away than usual. I had first noticed him because the teacher continued to call out his name and tell him to do stuff like "pay attention," "do your work," "listen to directions." I kept my eye on him. He looked like of Dominican background, he had tan skin, short hair, brown eyes and the clothes his wear seemed new. He was dressed in a bulky winter coat with a scarf and looked very comfortable and warm (probably due to the weather).
One day of my observation, I seen him doing the star reading and math...mind you he was the last kid to finish it. I noticed that with every little thing he would be distracted and so it took him even long to finish. My teacher had told me to approach him and sit next to him. So I did, and I asked him if he needed any help but he brushed me off and said he didn't. I respected his space but still stayed close in case of anything. As he was taking the test I looked at his computer from time and seen that he was clicking through the answers...didn't even read the question. I didn't mention anything but I felt bad, he seemed uninterested and just lost overall.
Throughout the day I noticed that the teacher kinda pretended he didn't exist. The teacher (white background) wouldn't talk to him, wouldn't check up on him and anytime she would take him into consideration it was just to tell him he was doing something wrong. He was Spanish dominant so I do realize that they're might be a language barrier with the teacher but its really sad to see how lost the child looks. I did help him a bit the best I can, but it was hard when he already seems like he lost the passion for school.
