 When reading Eliminating Ableism in education the main idea I got from this text was...

The Author (Thomas Hehir) writes this to focus on the re movement of abelist practices in education. One key point he walks about is the fact that school often reflect biases because they assume that students with disabilities are less capable. Because of this schools have lower expectations for them, they push them to the side and they don't give them the access to the same education as the other students. Another key point that I took away was the importance of inclusion. He is very passionate on the fact that full inclusion in educations should be a must. He mentions that students with disabilities who are able to be included perform better academically and socially. The last point I got from reading is that you should hold students with disabilities to high expectations. Why? because holding these students to that level can empower them rather then making them feel limited.
