For Blog #7 I read chapter 1 and 2 of "Literacy with an Attitude...
The main Idea that I got from these chapters were...He talks about how literacy is not only the reading and writing skill but can also be used as a tool of power. He explains that is ties in with social class. How? He argues that the way people learn literacy effect how many opportunities they have could have in life. People in that higher class learned a different type of literacy that somehow gives them more power, while those in the lower learn literacy a different way that gives them a disadvantage. Something like literacy is unfortunately not neutral and corresponds to social class + power.
