For this weeks blog #10 we watched a video about gender identity. We also read about the Rhode Island Laws and Policies on Guidance for Rhode Island Schools on Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Students.After reading and watching the video I realized how important is it to have these laws and exclusivity in schools because...
1. It ensures that they are treated with fairness. It makes sure that there is no discrimination against them just because of their preferred gender and identity.
2. It makes sure they're safe. Transgender and gender nonconforming students have a higher risk of being bullied, harassed and encountered with violence. So these laws allow them to not have that fear that something bad is going to happen to them.
3. Creates a supportive environment. With so many negative people in the world, it can become a dark place to those effected. So being able to create an inclusive supportive environment is the most important thing.
